The Summer Terrace
Song: Lana Del Rey - Say Yes To Heaven
No matter how much I love my room, there is another place I carry with me in the same way. It doesn’t have four walls, but a view where I could disappear.
It wasn’t just the view that drew me in. It was also the feeling of being there.
Since our terrace in the village is high up, being there feels like you could fly - especially when you lie down and look at the sky.
This is what I loved - taking a blanket, placing it down, lying on it, and staring at the sky. I loved the music when it mixed with the birds and the beetles. My diary was always with me, along with one more book to read.
This terrace is a place for the summer. Every day I waited for the moment when the day started to cool down - somewhere between 6:00 and 6:30pm. If I wasn’t in the house at that time, everyone knew - I was there.
This little corner really lifted me up. It was also the place where I meditated for the first time.
My evenings passed there, slowly, until the sun began to set. After meditating, it was so magical to look at the sky and see it in shades of orange and pink. Then the moon appeared, and the sky deepened into dark blue.
That’s when I looked up the most. The music was louder, and my thoughts were nowhere else except in the sky.
And when the moon came out, I stayed with it. It watched me, and I watched it.
Then the stars appeared too. I stared at them, trying to find the constellations.
I didn’t always wait for the stars. Sometimes I went back inside a little before it got completely dark, and that was okay. By the end of the day, I was filled with positive feelings.
On the terrace, I always found peace. There, I felt it the most. I was happy. I dreamed. I believed.
I felt… alive.
I hope I’ve taken you with me, to this terrace.
Let the sky, the music, and the calmness carry you. ♡
With love,
Chrissy
